Conservation-Restoration of painted works
Specialized in the conservation-restoration of classical, modern and contemporary paintings, my interventions and consultancy missions cover the fields of preventive conservation, curative conservation and restoration.
Here are the different treatments and actions I carry out, among others:
Preventive Conservator
To ensure the best possible conservation, I take a number of direct and indirect actions to prevent damage to the works.
Diagnostic examination of a collection or work:
Assessment of the state of conservation.
Condition reports.
Recommendations for preventive conservation and conservation-restoration interventions.
Preservation of collections:
Assessment of storage conditions.
Collection maintenance (climate and lighting control, health monitoring, dust removal, etc.).
Recommendations for packaging and storing works.
Advice on fittings and equipment.
Conveyance of works:
Condition reports.
Advice on packaging, choice of materials and crate design.
Supervision of handling, transport and hanging.
Installation of back protections for transport: rigid or semi-rigid protections against vibrations or blows from the back, such as polycarbonate honeycomb, stretcher-lining, cami-lining.
Advice for exhibitions:
Technical assistance for exhibition set-up and dismantling.
Recommendations for presentation conditions (climate and lighting controls, remote control protocols, etc.).
Supervision of in-house handling and movement of works.
Accompaniment and assistance with installation.
Curative Conservator
In order to delay deterioration, I carry out the necessary standardized actions on the effects of degradation, with a view to conserving the works.
Mould treatment:
Antifungal treatment such as econazole nitrate, etc.
Insect control:
Including passive anoxia.
Substrate treatment:
Lining, consolidating tears, repairing deformations, changing stretchers, tensioning loose canvases, etc.
Paint layer treatment:
Refixing, consolidation, scouring, varnish removal, varnish lightening, mastication, paint reintegration, varnishing, etc.
Catering
With deep respect for the aesthetic and historical integrity of the works...
Worksites:
Restoration site management on works of art with a specialization in large formats.
How we work
These various actions are preceded by information gathering, data analysis and synthesis, priority setting, etc.
I can also coordinate consortia of different specialists for large-scale projects.
In addition, contemporary works sometimes involve a composite materiality. This constraint often gives rise to a prior dialogue with the artist to flesh out the conservation-restoration approach.

Each of my large-scale services is accompanied by a documented and illustrated file detailing the actions carried out.

Applications
I use various specialized applications on digital tablets (iPad) to draw up condition reports and process images. Such software also enables me to take thermohygrometric readings and complete health monitoring. These applications facilitate the inspection, recording and transmission of information.
English
With a perfect command of English, I can handle requests from abroad and/or transport and install works outside France and French-speaking territories.
